The relatively less-known concept of the Internet of Senses reminds me of ideas around digital twins or #IoT. Research into direct computer-brain interfaces, Virtual Reality (#VR), Augmented Reality (#AR), Mixed Reality (#MR), eXtended Reality (#XR), and #metaverse are probably the main driving forces.
In the Internet of Senses, visual, audio, haptic, and other technologies allow human beings to have digital sensory experiences similar to the ones we experience in the physical world. In the coming decade, devices, sensors, actuators, context-aware applications, and low-latency networks will enable these experiences to become deeper, involving all our senses, and ultimately merging the digital and the physical worlds.
