There’s a vast difference between knowledge and uncertain information. Organizational knowledge is often based on opinions or guesses. Many of us experienced this when trying to reach customer service departments and receiving different answers each time we called. Knowledge management technologies address information quality problems where uncertain or conflicting statements can be identified and resolved. Organizations often suffer from another information quality problem. Unknown unknowns depict a situation where organizational knowledge has gaps that can not be easily identified.
The concept of managed software services is not new. Software as a Service (SaaS) operates as a third-party solution. Similarly, KaaS will provide knowledge solutions to customers. The notion of “knowledge everywhere” will probably become a mainstream term.
