Infusing AI with legal rules and
compliance regulations will be exceedingly difficult. Now is the right time to re-focus
AI into knowledge-driven systems that can accommodate (legal) rules or
restrictions. Currently, machine learning is focusing on robustness in pattern
recognition that is mainly data-driven. There was a time when there was a
significant enthusiasm in the KB-ANN (Knowledge-Based Artificial Neural
Network) community. If the AI legislation happens, it might be lead to another
AI-winter due to the absence of compliance-capable architectures.
