Our legal system is a huge area of application for AI and R&D. The amount of semi-structured text is enormous. As a field of doctoral research it is hard to think about a better field in terms of the available data. Legal or legislative AI support could be a breakthrough application for ethical and explainable AI algorithms. So many siloed applications around intelligent search or knowledge management already exist in the legal space. Still, much could be done by analyzing large bodies of (legal) text, finding contradictions, areas of overlap, or optimizing regulations. Of course, it would be a very politically sensitive subject, but at the very least, an AI support system with robust #UX would undoubtedly be a huge win. #algorithms #ai #legal #legalai #ethicalai #explainableai #knowledgebasedsystem #knowledgemanagement
