CEO Excellence is one of the best books on leadership I've read recently. The concepts surveyed by authors and discussed in the case studies apply to many functional areas at all levels. Concerns about sustainability, diversity, or cybersecurity are discussed at length, supported by many statistical studies. One of the key takeaways for me was that senior leadership is "unexpectedly lonely." For many leaders, the critical job is to build strong teams around the key positions to act as a "sounding board" when making strategic decisions. Those "sparring partners" help to ensure that the leaders are challenged and supported simultaneously. The book provides excellent insight into best practices for vision, strategy formulation, and resource allocation.
