The Metaverse

 This is one of the best studies of the metaverse concept. The broad idea of the virtual reality space is currently explored as a near-future key technology. There is a lot of interest in policy maker and financial circles. Possible implementations range from an "enterprise metaverse" to a platform for the digital entertainment industry. The section on possible technology development standards is exciting. The author discusses a likely implementation path that includes many APIs, OpenXR, WebXR, and many bundled services that utilize blockchain contracts, NFT, and cryptocurrencies. The cloud optimization discussion for low latency is excellent and is probably one of the critical roadblocks. I remember attending conferences a while ago where Second Life was supposed to be the platform for the future metaverse. Finally, we are much closer to realizing some of the ultimate VR concepts previously mastered by authors like Neil Stephenson and William Gibson.
