Enterprise Applications of Quantum Computing
I'm increasingly convinced that enterprise quantum computing will be a necessity soon. The library of use cases is steadily increasing. It includes traditional algorithms running faster and new quantum algorithms introducing unique analytic qualities. Of course, many skeptics are on the scientific side, citing issues related to very short coherence time or hardware sensitivity to noise or temperature changes. But many powerful organizations are investing heavily in this area.
Once the cost-to-benefit ratio of running SaaS on quantum clouds becomes attractive, there will be a shift from traditional computing.
From my perspective, some analytics projects require many hours of computation time running various AI algorithms. Obviously, we can buy more processors to speed up, but the investment is not financially sound beyond a certain level. If quantum computation allows us to turn these processes to near-real time, it will also be a substantial qualitative change.
