Virtual Mars Missions in a Metaverse?

 

I think that a human-crewed mission to #Mars will be perilous in the next decade. However, human presence will not be essential at the very beginning. There might be other ways to enhance the exploration process of Mars.

Big corporations invest significant resources in technology that allows people to feel like they are physically somewhere else. Initiatives similar to those described in the article feel like the extension of the gaming world. Open world simulations that use generative algorithms to extend levels are successful in the digital entertainment sector of the economy.  The word “metaverse” pops up from time to time. #Nvidia and #Facebook are probably the most notable examples at this time. A few more years of lockdowns and scary news, and virtual presence technologies will take us close to the Snow Crash universe imagined by Neal #Stephenson.
