Jeff Immelt's Hot Seat is a rather sad story about what went
wrong at one of the great global corporations. I have been following GE for
decades because it was one of the most innovative and diversified companies for
decades. Jack Welch was a rock star around many graduate business schools.
Welch's succession plans were widely debated in business magazines for a long
time. Immelt was one of two likely successors. Now, a couple of decades later,
GE is not the same company it was. Immelt's legacy is controversial at the very
least.
