The challenge of leadership
Organizations need a shared vision regarding every aspect of short-term and long-term planning and implementation of those plans. This is not specific to managing artificial intelligence or other technologies. Suppose a business operates in a high-tech environment or in an area where there is a significant shortage of specialists on the market. One of the critical problems is ensuring effective recruiting (internal or external) of top management.
Implementation of vision in an organization is not a new dilemma. Many business organizations have many middle management positions that are supposed to be a springboard to higher-level appointments. With the number of middle management positions significantly reduced and increased technological complexities requiring more time to prepare, there is a shortage in the making. Economic pressures will be likely to deepen this process.
Can businesses follow the model of a symphonic orchestra, where top management has become a separate career?
