Leadership Motivation Masterclass: A Storytelling Approach
The Motive by Patrick Lencioni is not the typical leadership
book that you can find in the reading list in an MBA degree program. It is a
great read, and the format of this work is very refreshing. In the first set of
chapters, the author establishes several cases through a leadership-centered
plot that leads the reader through layers of issues and life lessons. At the
end of the book, the reader will be able to review and summarize some of the
foundational concepts.
Pat Lencioni discusses many aspects of leadership. His
discussion centers around leadership motivation. However, I found several great
points related to team building, communication standards, or handling
adversities. I agree with the author that in many cases, wrong people or people
with wrong motivations aspire to be managers. This book might remedy this
problem by providing guidelines for aspiring leaders and creating high standards
in their careers.
